These seem to be interchangeable with bows (there being no separate skill requirement, nor skills that require a bow or skills that require a gun).
They fire underwater with no noticeable loss of range or damage.
The guns seem (from what I've seen so far in Beta 7) to obscure less of your back than the bow and huge quiver.
They seem to have no effect on range limitations of the skill they're used with.
